The Cousins are Here!

This week we have Roy, Jill and Sarah with us for the week.  The girls are so excited.  The kids play in the hot tub and video games.  There is an endless amount of Tea Parties, Tag, and Treats.  Roy and Lauren are mainly focused on the video games.  You can hear them laugh all over the house.  It is fun to see them play and hear their conversations.
I love this church activity we are attending.  I'm learning how to do this blogspot thing.

AWESOME!

What a fun Saturday

Emily ran into my room and nudged me saying"Mom! It is almost the middle of the day you need to get up!" I sat straight up fearng I had missed Emily's appointment. I looked at the clock and it was 6:15 in the morning. Emily was so excited to get her cast on she couldn't sleep.

We all went together to get her Hot pink cast on. Later we went to the movie to see Alvin and the Chipmunks #2. It was a fun day. We found Lauren an Easter Dress that is pretty and on a great sale.

Trent and I are playing our violins in church tomorrow and feel a little rusty. Trent always plays so well that I either listen to him and forget to put everything into my own playing or I listen to him and hear all the mistakes I am making. It is a tricky situation to be in.

We are all doing well, despite the broken wrist.

Yesterday the girls made a contraption "A Plank" that resulted in our first broken bone. Emily was testing it out and fell on her left wrist. She was very brave when we took her to the doctor. She has a splint now and will have a cast on Saturday. The radiologist gave her two stickers and a chocolate bar. She is feeling pretty special. She said on the way home "Mom since my arm is broken now you need to do everything for me because it is broken and I can't." "Oh Great!" is all I can say.

Today we were in the sporting goods store because Trent has found a wonderful new toy. He bought a full suspension bike. Trent took the scouts camping and wished he could stay home and ride his new bike. He is going to love it!
Kate and Emily were with us and they started lifting the weight on display. Kate had two 4lb weight and started to try to lift them over her head. "Oh Mom this is so heavy! It hurts my bwain!"
Today I ran 10 miles. It seemed to go on for an eternity on the treadmill at the gym. I usually do my long runs outside to help pass the time but Trent with the scouts. I was surprised how much mind over matter it took for me to finish. I finished with little soreness. The true test will be tomorow.

Laurens Science Project

Lauren has a science fair at school this week. She choose an experiment from what looked like a reputable site on the Internet. She wanted to make a tomato glow with a combination of bleach phosphorous and hydrogen peroxide. There was not even a trace of a glowing reaction. Lauren was disgusted. "Why would they do that. Tell us something that wasn't true. They make everyone just spend money and waste it for nothing!" She could not believe that they would put something on the Internet that wasn't true.
I wasn't there to witness the non-glowing tomato because I was sick in bed with food poisoning. A couple of hours earlier I ate some sushi from Harmons with raw fish. While running errands I found my self incapacitated with nausea. I tried to breath through it and talk myself out of it. Suddely I found my self on all fours in isle 17 loosing my cookies in a garbage can. I then hobbled over to the pharmacy to tell them what had happened. When we got home I went to bed and Trent took it from there.
The next morning I woke up and Trent asked how I was feeling I said fine and he said "Good because the house looks like a bomb went off. Good Luck!"
We did great even though I wasn't at 100%

Marathon Training

It has begun. The date has been set for June 12th 2010. The Teton Dam Marathon will be the first marathon I have ever participated in. There are rumors that Connie, Tyson, Josh, and Lindsay will also participate in this test of bravery and endurance. It will be very exciting.

First Day
This according to the Hal Higgdon Novice 1 training schedule is a rest day. I have read in several articles that apparently "rest" to a runner means another form of exercise like riding a bike or swimming. Hmmmmm. I went to the gym and did some upper body lifting and then put 40 very hard minutes on the stair master. My diet was good all day until I broke down and had 1/2 a Twix bar. It was so delicious and I enjoyed every morsel. I am proud that I walked away after the 1/2.

Second Day
The alarm goes off at 5:45 a.m. and I talk to myself. Why is it that important to run right now? Can't I just sleep and run later? I go through the schedule of the day a realize I can't so I muster the courage to pull myself out of bed and run. Three miles Hurray! I can't say it was a piece of cake but hey I did it. Tomorrow is another 3.
